Land Rover Repair: Auto suspension leveling issue, airsprings, auto suspension

Question
Dennis - I have an '03 Discovery HSE7 with about 75K.  I recently noticed the rear suspension to slowly self lower after sitting for about 8-12 hours.  The front suspension continues to keep the front end up.  Once the vehicle is started and in gear, the auto leveling engages once again and the truck rides as it should.  I have not reviewed any of the owners manuals yet.  The frequency of the rear suspension deflating happens almost daily now.  I also have noticed not hearing the hissing or pressure relief sounds after the truck is shut off that I used to hear.  Let me know if you need any more information.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Einar,

That sounds like leaky springs on the rear end, while the engine is running the SLS compressor will run to keep them full of air, but with the engine off the compressor will not run, allowing the leaks to win and the rear sink down.  Over time this will add extra wear to the compressor and burn it out.  You are due for new airsprings ASAP.
