Land Rover Repair: 96 Rangie - connected wrong batt. cables, batt cables, radio repair

Question
Please help,

I have a '96 Range Rover. It wasn't driven much so the battery died out. I took it out to charge it and when i put it back, I put the negative on positive and positive on negative. The car made brief honk noise and then I realised what had happened. I disconected it immediatelly. I checked fuses. One was blown out, so everything pretty much works except the Radio. The radio is very dimm, and it does not respond at all. I cannot turn it on or change code or anything. Could it be some other fuse? Or should I take it to service.

Answer
Hi Bailey,

ouch.  You may be in for a world of hurt.  Radio has a fuse access from behind.  IF fuse turns out ok, you may have to replace it.  Does your security system work?  If yes, then radio is your concern, if NO you have bigger problems and should take it to (gulp) a dealer or independent LR mechanic you can trust.

Fortunately, you did not explode the battery or fry some other component on your Rangie.

Best of luck,
