Land Rover Repair: overheating, needel, meeter

Question
hello
how are ya
i have a 98 discovery, it has been overheating for the last 4 days or so.
i had the thermostat replaced. nothing change.
i had both fans cked in front of the radiator with aftermarket fans, no change.i was told they were not working.
my temp needell shows red in 15 minuets of driving time!
i had a guy tell me that my needel is wrong , so i went and bought a temp meeter from the parts store, a surface temp meeter, i pointed it at the engine after driving for 15 minutes or so and the needle was at the re mark , engine showed to be at 130 degrees and the radiator showing 150 degrees.is that normal temp?
you think my needle is going nuts?
so what are you thinking?
thanks

Answer
With all due respect, can't you tell the difference between 130 degrees, which is hot water in the shower, and 220 degrees, which is a car boiling over?

However you do it, get an accurate handle on what the temperature really is.  If the answer is 220 F on top of the motor, it's overheated.  If the answer is 150 on top of the motor, the gauge is wrong.
