UI have a 96 Disco. i rplc the alternator and put on a new belt. I cut the old one off, but am not sure how to adj the tension or what to unbolt to do it and how so that the belt fits snuggly. What is the trick to getting it all right.

The trick is to use a pry bar to move the spring loaded thensioner.  Slip the belt on and it holds tight by itself.  Some owners manuals show the belt routing.  If you don't have that, you can buy a day's access to Land Rover's official site at www.landrovertechinfo.com and download pictures and instructions
