Land Rover Repair: LR Temp gauge/light problems/ warm-up running rough, upper radiator hose, upper manifold

Question
I own a 95 Disco I, 3.9ltr. I had an upper manifold cooling hose break. The engine coughed and spuddered (I think because water was spraying on the alternator I shut the engine off immediately. Prior to this the temp gauge read in the normal range. I replaced the hose and made it almost to my destination and the upper main radiator hose went. I tried to replace the two hoses at the same time but couldn't locate an upper radiator hose so took my chance...I was able to repair this hose and get to a town where I could find all new hoses. I replaced them all and have been driving the vehicle since trouble free. However, the temp light in the upper left corner now comes on after the engine warms-up and stays on. The temp gauge remains in the normal range all the time and the engine seems to be operating within the normal temp range. How do I shut off the light and how do I check to see if the temp gauge is working properly?
Also, the engine runs rough when I start it after not being used for a few days. It almost feels like it's not running on all cylinders. Once it warms up it seems to be OK but the vehicle uses lots of gas during this period.

Thanks for your help.

Answer
You don't have a temperature light.  Get your owner's manual and look at the chart of lights and see what warning is actually coming on.

As to the running rough . . . I would connect a LR test system to the computer and watch the live data to see what's going on.  Failing that, the workshop manual does have step by step test procedures for the fuel injection sensors and components.
