Land Rover Repair: 01 Disco gas tank gauge reads half tank only, tank gauge, fuel gauge

It seems i can only fill my 2001 discovery up half way, it sould like it fills up but the gauge only goes slightly above halfway?? could it bet he guage? how to tell? also my compass mirror only works half the time the other time it say 1-00?? thanks for any help

Hi Chuck,

sounds like the fuel gauge sender unit has failed. Most likely, if this is the case, you'll have to replace the fuel pump.  Note: make sure there is no leaks in the fuel tank and fuel cap is always on tight.

Here's an important note :

The fuel tank pressure sensor is located in the top flange of the fuel tank sender / fuel pump module and is a non-serviceable item (i.e. if the sensor becomes defective, the complete fuel tank sender unit must be replaced). The fuel tank pressure sensor connector is accessible through the fuel pump access hatch in the boot area floor of the vehicle.
