Land Rover Repair: 2001 Disco 2 SE7 engine stalls - MAF again?, poor engine performance, o2 sensors

Question
Last night, While driving my 2001 SE7 Disco's engine cut off on me three -
four times! I felt some slipping on the tranny, but limped to a gas station
safely. Being that the engine cut off I though I may have over heated, so I
bought some Dex-cool. Engine was still cutting off.  After a quick OBD scan I
was given a Tranny code, then P0112 IAT Sensor 1 Circuit low input, P0140
O2 sensor CKT No activity Bank 1 Sensor 2, P0102 MAF or VAF A-circuit low
input.  I already changed the MAF and IAT sensors and after scanning again
the tranny code hasn't come back. Would the MAF, VAF, or O2 sensor codes
effect the Tranny somehow? Or, do I have a compounded problem? Please
Help!

Andre

Answer
Hi Andre,

its possible that your MAF is failing.  I've seen guys install new MAF only to have it fail.  P0112 and P0102 codes seem to say this.  It's also possible to have an O2 sensor fail but rare.  My guess is MAF.

If engine is dying due to MAF, yes it would impact tranny.  Don't think O2 sensors would have impact, other than poor engine performance.

Overdrive problems could also be a possible cause.

Best of luck,
