Land Rover Repair: LR DISCO II ABS/TC/HDC INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, intermittent problem, light assembly

Question
Hie David,
1. I have a 1999 lr disco II. The ABS/TC/HDC come on at times, especially when turning. What could be the fault?
2. The reverse lights for the same car do not light when i put the car in reverse gear. I checked the bulbs and they are ok. Please assist.

Answer
Hi David,

1.  It could be that the wheel sensor(s) have an electrical short - check the wiring for damage and that the sensors are seated properly.  Electrical corrosion is a common problem for LR wiring and harnesses.

2.  This could be a problem with the reverse switch on the gearbox.  Could also be that the bulbs are good but the bulbholder or the wires are corroded.  Carefully examine the interior of the rear light assembly and look for any corrosion.  Check the wiring to make sure it is well connected to the bulbholder.  IF the problem is with the reverse connector on the gearbox, you may want to have an experienced LR mechanic repair this for you.  If you think you could do this work, write back and I'll look for some documents that may help you out.

Best of luck,
JohnMc
