Land Rover Repair: COOLANT TEMP GAUGE SENSOR 1997 Range Rover HSE, coolant temp, sensor location

Question
Hi,

my temp gauge in the driver panel had stop. I suspected it's the sensor that need to be replace. Can you please help me at finding where is the sensor location is. I also notice the heater O Ring needs replacements as it leaks. Could this be the culprit why the gauge stop working?

thanks,

ABV

Answer
The sensor is on the top of the intake manifold, in front of the large black plenum on top.  there are 2 sensors, one for the gage board, one for the Engine Control Unit.

the heater orings leaking could have introduced air into your cooling system that is blocking the sensor.  ensure your water is full and free of air.
