Land Rover Repair: Air Suspension, manual override, airspring

Question
Hello Dennis,

I have a '96 Range Rover 4.0SE, and it is on the bump stops.  The other night, on a dark road, I hit a massive dip.  After that, I was a low rider.  I could hear the compressor still trying to work, but it did not raise.  I drove it for a couple days slowly bouncing around town (I know, a bad idea).  Finally, it gave me the EAS fault (but no "35 mph" warning), and the compressor stopped trying to fill.  Yesterday, I had a friend take the compressor out, he connected it to a battery, and it worked fine.  Underneath where the compressor was, I noticed a wire that was exposed.  In addition, only the right side of my AC blows air out of the vents.  Did I blow all four air bags on my suspension?  Is the AC problem related?  Thanks for your time and help.

Derek

Answer
I doubt the A/C is related.

You possibly damaged an airspring or a height sensor, the exposed wire may have shorted something out as well.  driving on the bumpstops will get the "35mph" hard fault sooner or later.

Run the manual override procedure here to determine what part of the system is not working correctly.
