Land Rover Repair: break lights, problem thanks, light switch

Question
My break lights are on all the time.  We own a 94 discovery. I checked the break light switch and it works fine(no continuity when depressed , when pressed closed circuit). Also when i unplug the switch the lights stay on.  Checked fluid level, fuses, and bulbs.  What else can i check?  also my tach does not respond to acceleration are these linked?  Or is this another problem? thanks for the help

Answer
The tach and brake light problems are probably separate.  If you unplugged the switch and the lights stayed on I'd look first for a short back in the tail light area where you get corrosion, or in the trailer lamp connector.

You'll need the wiring book, which can be downloaded for a small fee from Land Rover's official site, www.landrovertechinfo.com
