Land Rover Repair: 02 Freelander wind noise and door panel, window edges, wind noise

Question
Hi John,

I have a 2002 Freelander and everytime I hit the 80 km/hr speed, I get this wind noise like the window is not properly shut. i checked if the window is going all the way up and by the mark on the window edges, it is all the way up. i have checked the rubbers and seal around my window and they are good. It does not feel too soft or worn out. I was wondering if you have any recommendation on how to prevent this noise. It is coming from the driver side only.

I also want to take out the inside panel of my passenger right door. The power lock is not working and I was told that the hinges sometimes get stuck and needs lubrication inside. Is there a precaution or things to watch out for when removing the inside panel of the door. I don't want to cause any damage to things I might not possible see. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi James,

could the wind be from a misaligned door? You could spray water on the outside of the door and around the seals to see if water penetrates.  If water can get in, wind can too.  Then there is the corner post and the windshield fitting you may have to consider.

As for removing the door panel, send me an email and I'll reply with some techsheets on the subject.  Should be as easy as my Disco...

Best of luck,
