Land Rover Repair: Difficult starts in cold weather, anoo, cold weather

Question
Kia ora anoo John, I would like a second opinion on my LR, in the mornings when it is cold(middle of winter here)as it is outside my LR coughs and splutters until it warms up and I thought well maybe it's the choke but appearently they don't have one so what do you think it could be, could it be the tps? kia ora anoo(good health once again)and thanks for your help.

Answer
Kia ora anoo Te Pononga!

Difficult starts in cold weather could be a bad temperature sensor.  I may also be lack of voltage from a cold battery - could the battery be failing?  Sometime the stepper motor can cause this too.

Do you think you can add a block heater?  It would relieve the battery by making it easier to ignite the engine thus requiring less amperage.  Up here in Canada, we have a CCA rating for batteries - Cold Cranking Amperage.  Usually, the bigger CCA the better.  We can wake up to -38C mornings...so far I've been fortunate with my Disco on such days.

Best of luck and keep warm!

NB: kia ora anoo - is this pronounced as written?  Beautiful language.
