Land Rover Repair: Radio, alpine radios, gauge wire

Question
My radio/CD player stopped working. When I turn it on it lights up and diplays the word 'CODE.' There was a time when it wouldnt even turn on, but a fuse was replaced adn it showed up with 'CODE' again. I was told that there is a fuse behind the radio that if replaced could fix the problem. The issue is taking the radio out and getting the keys to do so. Do you think its the fuse?  No one in my town carries 'Radio keys' for Rovers, where can I get some?

Answer
Hello Elle,

what is the model and year of your land rover?

Let me know so I can give you further instructions.

NB: every LR radio model has a main fuse located in the rear of the radio.  For older models, the key to removing the radio can be improvised with 12 or 16 gauge wire.  Most stereo shops should be able to do this.  Some Alpine radios have this.  Pioneer radios too.  Depends on the make and model of radio installed in your Disco.  3 ranges of models.
