Land Rover Repair: 2003 Disco II Ignition switch failure, customer service rep, switch failure

Question
My sons ignition switch refused to turn and the steering
Interlock kept the wheel from turning. The dealership claims that the ignition system had to be rebuilt in england. Is this for real ?? Is it common. Is there a chance of goodwill warranty coverage at 52,000 miles?

Answer
Hi Barlow,

I've never had this problem before.  SO...if dealer says the ignition switch has to be ordered from England, chances are that this is true.

As for a warranty coverage, if your son has maintained the warranty service schedule AND he raises his concerns (not his voice) over this, it's possible that an arrangement could be made.  He'll have to talk to the service manager, customer service rep and even LR head office.

Best of luck,
