Land Rover Repair: fuel system, land rover specialist, great shape

Question
a friend is giving me a 1994 discovery it has the ck eng light on, what causes this? and it sometimes stalls on start up, it acts like it is not getting fuel, if you sit there for a moment or two and press the peddel to the floor let up off of it it will then restart, as far as I know the fuel filter has not been replaced. Once the car starts it runs great. It has over a hundred thousand miles on it, but is in great shape what do you think, is it worth the trouble of fixing, or will it be to costly? Doest the ck eng just need to be reset or the filters replaced, or is it deeper than that?
Thanks,
Abby

Answer
If it's a yellow "check engine" light, then the check engine light is on because there's a problem.

There is no way to guess what may be wrong.  I'd suggest you find a qualified Land Rover specialist and pay him to evaluate the truck and advise you if it's worth fixing for you.
