Land Rover Repair: Keyless Entry Discovery 99, bar code labels, landrover discovery

Question
I have a 1999 Landrover Discovery II. I was wondering if you know how i could program the keyless entry remote that it came with. the red led light come on if you push a button on the remote but the car does not respond. is there a do it yourself way to program the remote to my car?

Answer
All programming of the Land Rover DII remotes has to be done with the Land Rover test system ( a t4, autologic, etc) so there's nothing you can do at home.

If the remote was originally programmed for your car and no longer works, it may have broken and require replacement.  In the USA, the pushbutton part of the key is separate from the key itself.  It's referred to as the PLIP.

To program a PLIP to your car, you will need the bar code label that came with the PLIP when new.  It has the necessary bar code labels.  Without the bar code, a new or uncoded PLIP is trash.
