Land Rover Repair: 2004 disco issue, rear cargo area, tailgate area

Question
hello there, my wife and i are the proud owners of a 2004 disco hse, my question is this. after 2 years of no problems whatsoever, last night we came out of a restaurant to find the rear cargo area soaked in our disco, along with the headliner on the pass side from mid sunroof to the rear door at all levels. it was not raining hard, nor particularly windy. our truck is meticulously cared for and shows no age. is it common for these trucks to develop large leaks so suddenly. also, is the sticking of valves an issue with the 4.6 motors, being a bmw motor. any help here would be great.

Answer
Hello Joe,
Yes, unfortunately it's not the first case of flooded interior. Leaks at the tailgate seal is a known problem with this model, there is bulletin how to make the seal better seal. I have also seen leaks at the quarter panel windows (the upper one, I think it's called skylight or something), but if you have not had any problems, it's less likely. I would run a hose on the roof and tailgate area and see where the water ingests is. Good luck.
