Land Rover Repair: 2002 Land Rover SD (Dummy Lights), shuttle valve, sensor signals

Question
Hello,

I have 43000 k miles on this 2002 Land rover SD  vehicle and have kept it serviced. For some reason the ABS light and the Traction control light and the downhill descent light will not go off after initial crank. What is going on here? Is this serious and is it something I can get fixed without getting hosed at the dealer. Please help

Thanks,

Ron"

Answer
Ron,
ABS, TC and HDC lights coming on are common occurrence. The most common is the front wheel speed sensor failures. There is updated overlay harness available (part#: SWO00020) to correct erratic speed speed sensor signals (labor is approx. 3hours). Also, I see a lot of shuttle valve failures (inside hydraulic modulator), also a newly released valve kit available to correct problem. Of course, there are other components that could have failed, I only mentioned the ones I see the most often. You have to get it diagnosed to see what the exact fault is. Good luck.
