Land Rover Repair: Auxiliary Power Outlet, fuse box, wire tap

Question
I would like to connect an auxiliary power outlet to my 2001 LR Discovery to power a satellite radio.  I purchased an auxiliary power outlet (cig adapter)from Radio Shack and would like to connect it to the fuse box.  Do you have any suggestions as to which wire (fuse) I should tap into?  Should I connect directly to the fuse using a fuse tap, or can I use the plastic wire piggyback supplied with the adapter?  I'd appreciate a response as I hate having the wires running across from the existing cigarette lighter.

Answer
If you are only powering a satellite radio I suggest you pull the cigarette lighter and tap into the power feel wire behind it.

If you want to use the fuse box instead, use a fuse that's key-fed and whose failure will not impair the safety or running of your car.

Beyond that bit of advise it does not really matter which fuse you use.

As to tapping in - I suggest the supplied wire tap as the fusebox is difficult to remove to solder into.
