Land Rover Repair: Disco Sunroof Leaks, drain tubes, sunroof drain

Question
John,
I have a 2001 Disco - LOVE It!! But the front sunroof leaks.  After reading all the others issues with this, should I just bail and sell it now? I really want to keep it - but if having to check the weather every night to see if I have to clean the Garage or not is getting a bit old(Garage is FULL of kids toys). I've read all of the others comments - seems this is a common problem.  I took it to the dealer who told me there was no leak.  Then I took it to a local and wonderful mechanic who told me there was a leak, and that the seal needed to be replaced...but Landrover does not just sell the seal.  $$$ To replace entire sunroof (which works well for now, except for the leak).
Am I doomed? Can/Should I just duct tape it shut? What are the reservoirs that every one is talking about? Drain something? Drain what?  Can I do it myself? Yes, I'm a girl, but I love to tinker with cars, tools and challenges.

Answer
I'd guess that your problem is actually the windshield seal, or it's the sunroof drain tubes, which can be seen to either side inside the open roof.

I doubt very much if you have a bad gasket.

We see those sort of troubles all the time in our shop.
