Land Rover Repair: 96 disco starting trouble, throttle position sensor, cylinder compression

Question
need help with a 96 rover disco SD.it started but will not say running even though i pressed the pedal down.

Answer
Hi John,

here are possible causes:

could be ignition related - no spark, loss of spark (bad wires or plugs), coilpack failure, ignition timing fault

fuel related - fuel pump malfunction, fuel filter fouled, injectors fouled, MAF failure

Various sensor failures such as throttle position sensor, MAF sensor

Have the ignition system, cylinder compression and injectors tested.

I had a problem like this and it turned out to be the TPS.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
