Land Rover Repair: Defender models, lara croft model, assorted problems

Hi John,
I am quite familiar with the Disco's having one of my parents who own a '94 with many of the assorted problems I have seen on the site of questions asked for your advice. Great to have this...thanks!!!
My question to you pertains to the Defender 90 which I believe was introduced also in Canada back around ?1994...are these vehicles relatively reliable ?, what is the best year to look at purchasing used ? Any good advice as to what can likely be expected with respect to repairs with the Defender ? Thanks kindly in advance.

Hi Patrick,

not many defender problems or questions come my way.  Even though I know more about series I Disco's (and started this LR Repair support) than most other LR's, I rarely get Defender problems.  The reason for this could be that Defenders are spartan but reliable, their owners don't neglect or abuse the vehicle and there are not very many in N.America.

I'm not sure of which model year is better than the other.  I have my opinion when it comes to Disco's but Defenders...I like them all.  LR is releasing a 2008 Defender for the NAS market (N.America) sometime 2007.

Of course, the Lara Croft model is the one that stands out the most.  The 4x4 not the character! :)  That defender was based on a 110 high capacity pick up and was highly modified by LR special projects.

NB: thanks for the kind words.  I wish I had some $ to buy a defender.  They look like loads of fun.
