Land Rover Repair: Freelander 1998 XEDI, rf interference, key fobs

Question
On a couple of occasions I have been unable to open the doors via the remote keyfob.  I have replaced the batteries on both key fobs to no avail.  The driver side door will open with the key manually no problem.

There is no indication from the vehicle that a remote signal is being received.

Any suggestions

Answer
Hi Ian,

when you replaced the battery, did you resync the fob to the security system?  Your manual states that you have to resync the key fob by pressing a button 5 times in quick succession.

IF this does not work, could it be that there is some interference on your key chain?  Some Oil companies have remote fobs that can cause interference with the LR key fob.  It may be quick in paying for your fuel fill-up BUT it may be causing some RF interference with the fob.

The only other problem areas I can think of are either the remote door locking switch (same switch for fuel cut-off) OR the security ECU itself.

Best of luck,
