Land Rover Repair: alarm, stock system, source of trouble

Question
hi john i got a remote start and alarm on my disco and it was working fine for the last 3 months but now i tried unlocking it and it will unlock but also lock by itself after that then the alarm will go off crazy...how do i take out or unplug the stock alarm or maybe the sensor or fuse...just to get rid of the anoying alarm if i manually just unlock the doors?...

Answer
If you have a US market Land Rover, you can't remove the stock alarm without also removing central locking, as the systems are one and the same.

Since it worked for 3 months, why don't you go back to whomever installed it and have them fix it?

I am not a fan of these aftermarket remote start/alarms, because I find them to be a big source of trouble like you are reporting.  The stock system is pretty trouble free in comparison.
