Land Rover Repair: LR Disco 96, luck john, plip

Question
Thanks, call it whatever you like, but the black two-button thing does not give any "impression" on the ECU.
They gave me a new "thing" and it worked together with the old one for three days and then we  were back where we started: no communication between the handset and the car
You are saying not a difficult one: The car has been in the LAndrover workshop for 6-7 weeks!!
I do not know what they have been doing except changed "everything" (as they put it) except the ECU
So what now?
I cartainly appreciate any hint I can give them

-----Question-----
The ECU does not receive the transmission from the blimp.
Suddenly when using the blimp the Disco is dead. Does not react at all on my blimp.
I guess it is an antenna problem or a reciever problem in the ECU?
It has been to the LR workshop for more than 6 weeks without any result.
The battery in teh car and in the blimp are new.
Any idea where to look?
-----Answer-----
First of all, it's not a blimp.  It's a PLIP.

The T4 Testbook test system at the dealer has routines to test and diagnose this system.  The most common issue is that the plips get dropped or wet and they fail.

Did you have the dealer program a new one?

This is not a hard problem to solve, provided you have a workshop with trained staff and the right tools.

Answer
I'm not sure what to tell you except find a more motivated or better qualified dealer.

This sort of problem is solvable. It does not take 6 weeks.  The dealer is supported by Techline, and they have the ability to test all the parts of the system.  They should even have the ability to substitute parts of the system.

If you continue to have the problem it seems to me you need a better service provider, or there's more to the story.

good luck,
John
