Land Rover Repair: ABS Modulator - 2000 Disco, shuttle valve, shuttle valves

Question
When replacing an ABS modulator (due to a shuttle valve that is malfunctioning) does one have to program (assuming the correct type is installed) it after installed. Any special configuration that has to be performed? I have a mechanic who works on LR but does not have experience with ABS modulators.

Answer
The shuttle valves can be changed without programming, but you will need access to the special LR test system to clear the stored fault codes.

If you fail to do that you may be led down a false trail in the future if you check for codes and read the old ABS shuttle faults. They will stay in memory forever till cleared.

The dealer that sells you the shuttle valve kit should be able to get you a copy of the bulletin that tells how to install it.

If not, you can subscribe to www.landrovertechinfo.com for a day and download it yourself.

Good luck,
