Land Rover Repair: radio code, radio code, john robison

Question
Not thinking, I disconnected the battery installing driving lights. Not having the code I purchased a code finder program and used my serial numbers from the radio. Code in I inserted the numbers. Four dashes appear, no radio. From my readings the radio needs to be on for an extended period of time to accept the code. My question: Do I put the code in and wait the several hours or do I wait the several hour and then put the code in. Thank you for helping.

Answer
I'd guess you have the wrong code.  If you have the correct radio code you punch it in and the radio comes on.  If you enter three wrong codes the radio will need to sit for 90 minutes with no buttons being pressed before allowing you another three tries.
