Land Rover Repair: Code P1193, discovery land rover, sensor faults

Question
I bought a 98 Discovery Land Rover six months ago.  Recently, the check engine light came on.  I checked it and it read P1193.  I cleared it and several miles later it came on again.  It read P1193.  Since I had it, I do all repairs to it, as well as to the other vehicles I own.  What should I do to cure this code?

Answer
P1193 means there is an open circuit in one of the oxygen sensor heater circuits.

There's an article on my web site about oxygen sensor faults that you may find useful.  Look at www.robisonservice.com > service > land rover > articles.

If you want factory wiring diagrams you can get them online too.  For about $18 you can buy a day's access to Land Rover's service web site, www.landrovertechinfo.com.  They have step by step instructions to test the o2 circuit and you'll find the complete electrical troubleshooting manual for your truck.

You can order an 02 sensor from Atlantic British (800 533 2210) or Rovers North ( 802 879 0032).

Hope this helps.
