Land Rover Repair: key broke off in ignition switch, locksmith, glue

My son broke the key off in the ignition switch of our 96 discovery.  Is there an easy way to remove the switch or a way to get the broken piece of key out?

Hi Sam,

a few years ago, I broke a key off in my ignition.  I took the broken portion, dipped that end in contact glue and pressed it against the broken portion in the ignition switch.  I allowed the glue to dry (ensuring it remained attached) and carefully pulled it out 1 hour later.  If this fails, a locksmith can do it for about $25.

Caution: not too much glue - just enough
