Land Rover Repair: 01LR DiscoveryII inoperable window, land rover discovery, window stays

Question
I have a 2001 Land Rover Discovery SII.  I went to lower my front driver side window, and when I did it seems as if it came off its track.  The window went all the way down beneath the window frame.  When I attempt to get window back up, the motor runs but window stays down.  This problem has never occured before.  Does this sound like a major issue or could this be a DIY'r?  Please offer guidance....thanks

Answer
Hi Stephen,

could be that the glass has come out of the frame for some reason.  It's also possible that the fram itself is damaged.  The area in there is very tight and most difficult to work with.  You'll have to remove the door speaker, panel, plastic vapour barrier to expose the holes in the door.  It may be that bracket has rusted and the rivets have popped out.  Not sure from here.

Take a look and determine what is causing the window not to rise then decide on next step.  If it's framing you may be able to do this yourself.  Same goes for motor exchange.

You've got to look to see what's wrong.  Do this and come back with more questions.
