Land Rover Repair: freelander rear door/window, mechanical failure, rivet gun

Question
John, thanks for the early response; if that's the case, is it straight-forward to
drop the new unit in? any tips?

Regards EL.

Question -
Hi John, my rear window has ceased to function (mechanical failure) - having
taken the trim off I can see one end of the broken/frayed wire. My local dealer
says I need a new regulator (£200+) - is there any way I can fix my problem
without buying the whole works, it seems a bit crazy to have to  buy the
whole
assembly just because the wire is broken??

Many thanks
EL.
Answer -
When the window regulator breaks I am not aware of any good fix short of
replacement.  We see that all the time.  I've tried to replace and string that
wire and never had success for more than a few days.

Answer
Installation is straightforward with one exception . . . the window lifts in newer Land Rovers are riveted in.  When you get the new lifter get new rivets adn also get some trim clips for the door panel because they break.

Make sure you have a rivet gun that can handle the rivets BEFORE you take the door apart.
