Land Rover Repair: car not moving!! ugh.., cv joint, petal to the metal

Hey there John - have a 99 Rover Discovery TDI - put in gear, while shifting is fine car will not move in ANY gear! Sounds quite sluggish as well...petal to the metal (before this happened) and barely hit 30 in 2nd gear - any thoughts??

Hi Carol,

can you lock your differential into low gear?  Try this to see if you can move your vehicle.  Remember, locking your differential into low gear is meant for off-road and towing conditions.  This is only to determine if your CV joint is damaged.  If you can move your vehicle while in low gear, it's probably a CV joint that is causing your problem.

Give this a try and let me know.  If this is the case, you an expect a $2000+ repair bill.
