Land Rover Repair: Land Rover Series 3 1975 Stuck Clutch, land rover series 3, emery cloth

Question
We have a 1975 Series 3 2.25 SWB Land Rover. It has been left idle for a couple of years, with just the occasional short run. It starts fine, but last year the clutch was stuck when we tried to drive it. Just by starting it in gear, we managed to free the clutch. A couple of months later the same thing happened but we managed to free it again. This year, we have gone to drive it, the clutch is stuck and, no matter what, it won't free itself. We have asked advice on lots of websites and the answer that kept coming up was the following: Fill the clutch housing with WD40, start the engine with the clutch depressed, run until the engine is hot, start the engine in gear, then depress the clutch and play with the throttle until the clutch unsticks. However, we have tried this with no success. Do you have any suggestions? Also, what would you recommend to clean out the housing afterwards to remove the WD 40?

Answer
you lost me the clutch is stuck? the pedal is staing down? it sounds like the input shaft is rusted up and keeping the throwout bearing from moving back and forth smoothly the only way to fix this is to remove the trans. then use emery cloth to clean the input shaft off then put some grease on it.
