Land Rover Repair: Drive Side door latch/lock not popping up, door latch, land rover dealership

I have a Disco 2 1999.  Its been a great vechile but currently I'm unable to get into the driver side door because my lock/latch isn't popping up.  All the other locks pop up when I use keyless entry besides the driver side door.  The Land Rover dealership took a look at my vechile and they want some major cash to replace the lock.  To me it doesn't look that hard to complete the task.  I have never changed the lock/latch assy though.  The part number I think I need is FQJ102910.  Has anybody ever changed the lock assy on there Disco2 or are there any pointers I may need to know before I dive into the project.  Thanks for the help and keep up the hard work.

If you are handy you can change the driver door latch at home.  It's a 2-3 hour job, so be prepared.  If you don't have a manual I suggest you buy a day's access to Land Rovers site for $20 - www.landrovertechinfo.com - and download the manual with photos etc.
