Land Rover Repair: 98 Discovery rear door rattle, spare tyre, hi tim

Hi there, I have just bought a 98 disco LE. What a vehicle. I love it, apart from the very annoying rattle that is coming from the rear door. It seems to come from the lock on the door it's self. Almost seems to not be closing properly. I have adjusted it , taken off guides, and pretty much tried everything to stop it. Guess what, i have not fixed the problem. Any ideas? The only thing i have not done is check the spare tyre bolts. But i am positive it is coming from the lock. IThe only temporary fix i have found is to turn the stereo up.

Hi Tim,

check the hinges on your Disco rear door.  The weight of the spare tire takes a toll on those two hinges.  You may have to tighten or add shims to adjust this door.  You'll also need at least one other person (with strong arms) to help you.  Best bet is to have LR perform the work.
