Land Rover Repair: 96 LR Disco SE 4.0L gasoline(petrol), vacuum leak, electric seat

Question
A month ago, I purchased a '96 Disco SE with 92k miles.  The engine purrs like a kitten but now I'm experiencing electrical problems:  cruise control doesn't engage; passenger side electric seat adjustment controls are unresponsive; rear driver's side electric window won't go down; keyless remote doesn't work.  My question is:  do all these symptoms have a common problem source or are they all unrelated, separate ills?

Answer
Hi JGM,

it's possiblethat the window and remote access may be linked but I doubt the other problems are that closely related. Both have connections to the security system.

Usually, the common problem is corroded wiring within each of the electrics, something I've had to deal with in my '95 Disco.

The cruise may be affected by a vacuum leak, something you'll have to verify by a mechanic.

The only common link I can think of is wiring corrosion and shorting out.

Best of luck,
