Land Rover Repair: drivers power seat for Range Rover, torx bolts, seat motor


Question
have 2002 Range Rover with 30k. Just noticed that although the drivers power seat functions correctly, it suddenly "tilts backwards" if/when you lean back against seatback. appears seat is on tracks.

Is there some way or trick that I can perform do correct situation,as prefer not to have it done by dealer.

another Rangie owner wrote me about a problem she was having with her driver seat.  The garage thinks its the seat motor that is not tracking properly.  She'll let me know what happens in a day or so.

Hi Vern,

the problem is locating the fault.  It could be that the adjustable sqaub motor of the front seat has been damaged.  It may be as simple as the drive wheel has lost its grip or a bearing fault in the motor.  Swapping out this motor and replacing it with a test motor would clarify this very quickly.  It could also be that some supporting torx bolts may have come loose.

This involves having spare parts to isolate the problem and that means the dealership - unless you have spare seat motors.
