Land Rover Repair: Landrover auto gearbox sticks when cold, synthetic product, lubs

I have landrover disco 2.5 (1994)300tdi automatic. When cold the gearbox sticks in 1st gear. Once warm, gearbox works fine. Oil has been changed regularly, any clues ?

Hi Tony,

my first thought was low oil but you've got that covered.  Have you considered changing to a synthetic product?  Its thinner and lubs better.  Might help a bit.

Usually, first sign of wear is sticking shifter in 1st gear.
