Land Rover Repair: land rover repair, land rover discovery, dashboard lights

Question
I own a 1999 Land Rover Discovery.  When I depress the brakes, the top rear brake light works but the lower right and left brake lights do not work.  I've replaced the bulbs.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Mike,

check the wiring and the bulbholder for corrosion.  Also check all the other light bulbs on the Disco.  I've found that if one bulb goes, usually it affects another set of bulb(s) in the electrical series.  A glove compartment bulb, for example, can affect the dashboard lights.  A rear bumper brake bulb can also affect the dashboard lights.  Strange but true.

I've noticed on my '95 that corrosion can short out the bulbholder and cause all sorts of weird problems.  Same goes with the sidemarker lights.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
