Land Rover Repair: 2000 Discovery Electric Cooling Fan, electric cooling fan, engine temperature

Question
Tonight, when i returned home after driving approximatley 20 miles on the freeway, the electric cooling fan remained on after shutting down the engine.  I let the fan run for approximately 30 minutes thinking it might go off, but it didn't. I eventually disconected the battery and this turned the fan off.  When i turned the car on and off again, the electric fan turned off when the engine did.  Any idea what might be the issue here?  This has never happened before.

p.s.   For what it is worth, I too have the ABS, TC and hill descent light issue, like so many other people it would seem.

Thanks in advance.  Chris

Answer
Hi Chris,

don't think this is related to the TC, HDC and ABS bug.  Could be a short in the fan's wire connector.  Corrosion does occur and can short out anywhere and anything.  Check the wiring to that fan.

How's the engine temperature?  Are you overheating?  Careful with engine temperature...you don't want the loss of a cylinder sleeve due to an overheated engine.

Determine if there is a wiring problem, if not, determine if engine is overheating.

Best of luck,
