Land Rover Repair: Land Rover speedometer failure, land rover discovery, component failure

Question
I have a 95 Land Rover Discovery automatic 3.9L gas engine with only 77,000 miles on it. The speedometer with the tripdometer and the odometer all of a sudden quit on me. There are no loose wires. I have checked all the fuses and they are all OK. The tachometer runs fine. The car has no problem starting. The battery condition is good. I never have this problem before. Any insight as to the cause of this component failure?

Answer
Hi PLC,

nice Disco...and such low mileage!  wow.

This sounds like the speedometer transducer has failed or the wiring is shorted out.

You'll have to lift the Disco and get underneath to investigate the multiplug or the transducer itself.  Its located just beside the transfer gearbox.

Best of luck,
