Land Rover Repair: 1999 Land rover Discovery front end shake, land rover discovery, steering damper

Question
My '99 Discovery developes a shake in the front end after I hit the brakes at 70mph. When I try to accelerate again the car vibrates until I hit about 75 then the vibration goes away. The dealer tried to tell me the heads need to be redone to fix the problem. It seems to me that it would be a suspension problem not a motor problem. Thoughts?

Answer
Hi Andrew,

I doubt that it's the head.  Rev the engine in your driveway and watch for vibrations at same rpm ~2100

Could be balljoints, UJ, shocks, air shocks?, trackrod, swivel hub or steering damper, or combo of all above.  A steering and suspension specialist would be able to tell you...when's the last time you had a 4x4 wheel alignment?

Best of luck,
