Land Rover Repair: Service engine light on Disco II, land rover discovery, advance auto parts

I have a 2000 Land Rover Discovery II.  How do I reset the service engine light ??  Do I need a tool and codes to reset ??  If so, where do I get tool and codes ??  Does this need to be done after oil changes or at any specific engine service times ??

for Disco series I owners, here is a website that describes how to reset the Service Engine Light.

go to the TECH section then scroll down to the Reset Service Engine light.

For Disco Series II owners, I believe it can be reset with an OBDII reader device.

Keith, you could try going to your local Advance Auto parts store and asking if they can do this for you.  Some are willing to do this service for free.  These guys are very good and very helpful.

If not, a dealership can do this for you with their testbook diagnostic device.
