QuestionI am looking to buy a used Disco II,the adv miles for a good used one in my price range is around 80,000 to 100,000 it seems,any idea on what kinds of major probloms I could run with the miles range? Or what I should look for in the maitance history before I buy it?
I know this is kinda a vauge question but just trying to guage what kinda of probloms and the cost of the I might or will run into with this model

AnswerHi Tom,
for series II Disco's, check the owner's manual to see if routine maintenance (warranty service) was performed. I found that Disco's that did not follow the routine service inspections are not regarded very well by Land Rover dealerships.
There appears to be engine problems in Discovery series II engines. The exhaust valves begin to stick resulting in power loss and misfire. The only cure is a valve job. SO...have the engine checked for this.
In fact, my suggestion is to take the potential LR Discovery to a local LR dealership and let them inspect the entire Disco. Could cost you $100 to $200 BUT its worth it.
Look at tires to determine how they were worn, condition and any steering or suspension faults (usually show up on the tires).
Check all the windows to make sure the window switches are working.
Carefully inspect back door. How does it open....easy?
Does the key open the rear door. Does the rear door close properly.
