Land Rover Repair: ABS problem on a 96 Disco, zip folder, abs light

Question
I have a 96 Disco that recently had the brake relay switch replaced.  Now the ABS light will not go off and the ABS only works intermittently. (they usually lock up instead of pulsate) The roads are very bad now and I need my ABS back.

The Brake fluid level if fine.  I checked all the ABS related fuses.  Did not see any problems there.  Where should I look next?

Answer
Hi Ty,

if I knew the answer to this question, I'd make a fortune!

The LR ABS problem is a long and murky one.  It could be a problem with the wheel sensor(s) and/or the ABS modulator.

Here is a website that may be of interest:

http://groups.msn.com/LRDiscovery

go to the documents section and download the zip folder ABS FAULTS which contains an acrobat document. It has a detailed instruction set on how to read your ABS fault with or without the reading device.

I suggest you find out what triggered the ABS fault.  The code will give you a general idea of where to look.

Best of luck with this,
