Land Rover Repair: 1996 Discovery Radio, salvage yard, bob randall

Question
I have a 1996 Discovery. Some months ago the radio and cassette both quit. The lights to the player still worked but no sound.  I tested the player and believed it to work.  I also replaced the amp with a used one. But still no sound.

Any ideas.

Answer
Hi Kyle,

Your best bet is to have it serviced.  Here is a website that may be of help to you:

www.carstereohelp.com

These guys are experts at OEM radio service. They service all makes, models and provide their expertise are known all over the world. You could also email your question to Bob Randall at fcsr@msn.com to see if its something simple to fix.

You could also consider buying another radio from a salvage yard.  I've seen them as low as $45US.  Ask for the code (if possible) otherwise, contact LandRover or even FCSR above for help with this.

If you want a salvaged radio for your '96 Disco goto www.car-part.com and enter your vehicle part search.  You should be able to find one close to your residence and most are willing to ship (at your expense).  Considering the cost to replace from dealer, this is an option I'll seriously consider when the time comes.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
