changing an alternator is one of the easier parts to do on your Disco.
Most Disco I alternators fit on our '95 Disco.
Disconnect negative terminal cable on battery.
Remove fan cowl found on top between rad and engine fan.
Remove serpentine belt...a ratchet with a long lever will bend back the tensioner pulley to remove the belt. Make sure ratchet does not slip off tensioner as it can break the plastic fan nearby.
Once belt is off, remove alternator wire connectors.
Remove alt mounting bolts.
Make sure pulley is identical on replacement alt...unless you are using same alt pulley.
Install is reversal of removal.
About 30 minutes of labour.
