Land Rover Repair: Status Lights, salvage yard, reputable dealership

The status lights...like check engine do not come on with the 2001 Discovery II  everything works ok...but when i went to get it inspected in NC they would not pass it because check engine light would not come on at startup.   I went to Land Rover and they told me a couple of thousand to replace the panel.  I am a student and cannot do that.  Any repairs i can make myself that i can afford?  My car is off the road until i get fixed.  OUCH.   THnaks for the help.

Hi Michael,

I could be wrong but could it be just the bulb?  You could dismantle the driver side dashboard and replace the bulb.  If its the entire panel, you could replace it with one from a salvage yard.  In NC, there are many that have LR parts.
