Land Rover Repair: cruise control problem, vacuum hoses, vacuum leak

Question
I own a 2000 discovery series 11 and for some reason the cruise control just stopped working.  the button light still illuminates with a red light and everything seems fine. From what I saw the fuses dont look damaged either.  I was wondering if there was a safety feature I dont know about or something like that.
please help

Answer
Hi Kurt,

no, there is no feature that would prevent your cruise control from working...except having no fuel.  :)

Usually, when the CC does not function, it can be attributed to either a vacuum leak due to split hose, vacuum pump failure, CC switch failure or a solenoid fault.

Also, CC solenoid in controller can randomly cut out. This is found behind the glovebox.  One owner said he replaced the controller and his CC began to work.

Check all your vacuum hoses for cracks or splits.  Also, make sure the brake pedal sensors are working well.  I've heard that even the carpet touching the pedal switch and inhibit the CC from working.  That's too sensetive!

Seems like your switch is good...now check your vacuum lines.

Best of luck,
